Apprenda Gives Cloud Applications an Identity

Apprenda wants to make it easier for IT organizations to deploy and manage multiple software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications. The company will release an upgrade to its Apprenda middleware stack for running SaaS software that now includes the ability to federate end user identities across multiple applications. According to Apprenda CEO Sinclair Schuller, this capability will make it easier for IT organizations to administer SaaS applications as they deploy an increasingly larger number of custom applications on public and private clouds.

Compatible with Active Directory or any WS-Federation and SAML-based identity management system, the Apprenda platform is designed for Windows applications built on top of Microsoft.net or Silverlight frameworks.

Schuller says that cloud computing by definition will be hybrid across the enterprise, which will create access management challenges for organizations that need to deploy applications both on premise and in the cloud.
