Apprenda to Deliver Turnkey Hybrid Cloud Solution for Enterprises

Collaboration with Microsoft Will Facilitate Enterprises’ Shift to Hybrid Cloud Environments

TROY, NY, April 29, 2014 — Apprenda, the leader in enterprise Platform as-a-Service (PaaS), today announced that it will offer an end-to-end hybrid cloud solution for .NET and Java applications through collaboration with Microsoft. Customers will get access to the best of both worlds: the on-premises comfort of Apprenda’s PaaS offering with the elasticity and cost-effectiveness of the Microsoft Azure public cloud. Customers who license Apprenda will now have a turnkey hybrid implementation that includes Azure infrastructure out-of-the-box at no additional cost, ensuring that enterprises can seamlessly leverage public cloud as a feature of their datacenter from day one.

As industry and customer demands continue to pave the way for widespread cloud adoption, Apprenda aims to eliminate the need to choose between the public and private cloud and empower enterprises to run on both.  Forrester analyst Lauren Nelson states, “In 2014, private cloud vendors will give their customers the ability to move into the next stages [of cloud computing] where workloads are portable between [public and private] environments, applications can be split across environments, and/or one can use public cloud to accommodate excess load during peak usage (cloud-bursting).”[1]

Apprenda and Microsoft customers will get an Apprenda license with Azure. The joint solution will also support a smooth transition for enterprises adopting a hybrid cloud environment, achieving a practical hybrid outcome for streamlined application management, increased agility and higher computing efficiency, and demonstrating Apprenda’s commitment to providing enterprises the flexibility to run and manage their cloud environments in effective and cost-efficient ways.

“Hybrid cloud solutions are increasingly attractive to enterprises that adhere to strict regulations but want to achieve the agility and scalability the public cloud is known for,” Steven Martin, General Manager, Microsoft. “The combination of Apprenda and Azure helps customers transform their datacenter into a high efficiency application platform by incorporating public cloud resources, on their own terms.”

“We believe that enterprises will start to use the public cloud through a hybrid approach,” stated Sinclair Schuller, co-founder and CEO, Apprenda. “Through our work with the leading enterprises in the world, we understand the cloud needs of larger organizations and developed this joint offering to help Apprenda and Microsoft customers move toward hybrid cloud environments in order to realize the full benefits of the cloud, while adhering to strict privacy and compliance regulations.”

Apprenda enables enterprises to securely manage and deliver resources from within both private datacenters and from public cloud providers, easing the transition to a fully-optimized hybrid PaaS. Organizations such as McKesson, JPMorgan Chase, and Memorial Sloan Kettering use Apprenda to power thousands of mission-critical software apps and create new efficiencies and revenue streams.
