It’s another big day for all of us at Apprenda – and more importantly, for enterprise cloud customers. In what we see as a further validation of the disruptive, powerful qualities of enterprise hybrid PaaS and Apprenda, we’re pleased and excited to announce that we have secured a $16 Million Series C financing round led by Safeguard Scientifics with investment by both Ignition Partners and NEA. First and foremost, welcome, Safeguard!
The goal with this latest funding round is to build on the successes we’ve had as a company: early customer wins, maturity of our customer base, enabling the world’s largest production private PaaS clouds, and happy customers in the best verticals to date; we want to use that as the primary foundation for what formulates our next steps.
The main focus for Apprenda, the #1 private PaaS tech in the enterprise, is to invest heavily in our growth and drive a new inflection point for the business. The time for growth has never been better- we believe the market has matured, is primed and ready for PaaS, and as a company we have the best technology backed by the best team; we’re going to pursue an aggressive growth path that adds “fuel to this fire.” Our investments will be aggressive on the go to market side of things; sales & marketing and expanding our go-to-market approach through direct, as well as indirect means on the strategic alliances side.
Of course, we’re also investing in all other parts of the business, including R&D and product development. That being said, it’s in our best interest to expand upon the lead we’ve already established. In terms of customers and any competition in the PaaS arena, right now we’re somewhere around three years ahead of the market. Some of our accounts have reached a scale that can only be achieved through time and a steady pace in making customers successful. The nearest competitor has a long way to go in that regard. In terms of functionalities and features that exist on the platform, we’ve evidenced a lead of around 18-24 months when compared to any other vendor. We’re going to not only maintain the lead as #1, but expand it. I’m excited to do this with a team of great, passionate people in a market that is really starting to heat up. It’s an exciting time to be here, and we couldn’t be happier to be at the forefront of the fastest growing area of private cloud computing.
