Yesterday, Apprenda announced that it is incorporating Google’s Kubernetes open-source container orchestration system into its architecture. This is a significant move for the company and shows the direction it will head in the future when it comes to offering deep support for cloud-native applications.
“After looking at Docker Swarm and Cloud Foundry, we found that Kubernetes is the best platform out there for cloud-native applications,” Apprenda CEO Sinclair Schuller told The New Stack yesterday. “[Customers] get the benefit of having a cloud platform for their existing apps as well as their cloud-native applications all under one hood.”
To discuss the announcement, Apprenda’s upcoming appearance at KubeCon on March 10, and more, I sat down with Apprenda Global Client CTO Matt Ammerman and Kismatic Vice President of Technology Strategy Joseph Jacks. Kismatic has been working with the Kubernetes community since the beginning of the open-source project and offers a lot of perspective on what makes it such a great technology.
