Hello, we're SaaS visionaries. Here's our story.

Back in 2005, Apprenda's founders were frustrated. Having built several successful enterprise applications before, they set out to build the next killer SaaS application. Not too far into the process, they realized that they were duplicating much of the same work they'd had to do on previous projects. What's worse, almost all of that effort was invested before a single line of code was written that actually contributed to the value of the project they had designed. All of their development was going into how their software would be delivered and operated across the internet, not into the core of their business - the special value that their software would provide to customers. Sure, other companies were out there tackling these issues and even creating successful businesses in the SaaS space, but Apprenda's founders felt that something more was needed, something foundational and accessible to the thousands of software companies just like theirs. "It'd be great if there was an operating system for Software as a Service applications so that we don't have to write all this extra code," one founder said.  And with that, SaaSGrid was born.

The mission statement became very clear: Apprenda's SaaSGrid will provide the same value to Software as a Service developers that the traditional operating system provided to software writers decades ago. The true power of software-based computing was realized when software developers could stop focusing on interfacing directly with hardware, and instead focus on the ingenuity of their software. In 2008, this is what SaaSGrid is: an operating system for building and deploying Software as a Service applications, and a platform for conducting Software as a Service business.

Sure enough, as time went on, the key concepts that the Apprenda founders embraced during SaaSGrid's conception became popular across the industry.  Terms like "cloud computing platform" and "platform as a service" have become pervasive in industry literature and on websites all over the internet. Some attempts at such technology can be recognized as marketing gimmicks and attempts at exploiting buzz words. Some technologies are plugins for existing Software as a Service applications aimed at expanding reliance on that one application. Few enablement technologies available today come close to the comprehensiveness of SaaSGrid.  ISVs who choose SaaSGrid as a foundation can start building their application with 100% of the development pertaining to delivering that application as a service complete. These ISVs will shave off about 65% of their development time and capital requirements without giving up an ounce of power or flexibility in the development of their application's core functionality.

Today, Apprenda is proud to know that SaaSGrid is genuinely built from the ground up to be the most complete, most powerful, and most flexible platform for Software as a Service applications available. Apprenda is headquartered in New York State. We are geographically located in a center for technological and business growth known as Tech Valley.
